September 26th 2006

United states patent number 7,111,587 granted to RAU.

This is the second U.S. patent obtained by RAU for its animal immobilization device. Patent number 6,901,884 was the first patent obtained.

These patents grant RAU  the right to exclude others from making, using, offering for sale, or selling the invention throughout the United States of America or importing the invention into the United States of America.

The invention provides for a device for use in partially or fully immobilizing animals such as cattle, sheep and the like. The device includes a probe for insertion in the anal canal of the animal, the probe comprising a pair of spaced electrodes connected by way of electrical conductors to a power source providing a pulsed electrical current at specified voltages and frequencies to the electrodes.

Effectively this means that other animal immobilization devices being sold in the USA which are using the same method and similar electronic frequencies may be in breach of these patents and may be infringing on RAU legal rights.

This information is provided to potential USA animal immobilizer customers who are advised to satisfy themselves that any other products they may be considering are not in breach of these patent rights.

What they are saying about RAU IM2000!!

"As we used the immobilizer more we learned how to use it for our tie stall milking farm. When we have first calf heifers it works real good, they stand for us to put the (milking) machine on them to be milked. We use it for dehorning and hoof trimming too!" ..Dairy Farmer, Morris, New York.

“The RAU animal immobilizer has been a tremendous addition to making cattle working safer and easier for both the cattle and the cattleman. I have found it especially useful in freeze branding and horn tipping.”…  R Phillip Burns M.D. Burns Farms Herefords, Pikeville TN.

"It aint' the 'Cowboy Way' but it's 'Our Way' now! Whether we used it on cattle in a chute or on the ground, every procedure was completed with no injury to the animal or the cowboys--and in record time. The RAU 2000 has way over paid for itself in labor and reduced injury in just 1 season."... Ranch Owner, New Mexico

“We use the RAU Animal Immobilizer while working our calves and for examining back feet for disease, injury or trimming. It seems amazing, but when you put the unit in the rectum to the left of the tailhead, the animal will lock up and press forward and the right hind leg can be picked up easily and safely. (Vice versa for the other side of the tailhead). When working calves, they lock forward without jumping around or pulling back when trying to dehorn or clip them. Their heart rate stays entirely normal and they don’t stress as badly. I am sure there are many other uses for the immobilizer, but we highly recommend it for these uses. It has been worth the spend!” …Nancy Laxton, New Concord KY.

“We can’t believe how well the immobilizer works. We have used nosers, ropes, medicines and many other time proven techniques in restraining large animals but nothing has worked like the RAU Animal Immobilzer. It’s another tool to incorporate in the time proven techniques to reduce injury to our cowboys and to decrease the stress to our animals!!!” …. Steve Flickinger, Gilbreath Enterprises, a large Angus Seed-stock Rancher in Arkansas

"We clearly showed no adverse effects related to repeated stimuli from the probe with our measurements and observations of demeanor, feed acceptance, vocalization, respiratory rate, pulse rate, and body temperature, all of which are accurate indicators of pain, discomfort, and stress…. I feel this study is an accurate representation and a good indicator of the results one can expect when using the RAU immobilizer”  ..…Reproductive Physiologist, Dept of Agriculture. .

"Minimizing stress factors is very important to ensure sustainable milk or embryo production. I found the Animal Immobilizer indispensable in working with these animals”...Dr van Zyl, Nucleon Genetics

“I used the RAU Immobilizer to treat pinkeye on Longhorn cows. The device allowed me to treat the eye without the animal moving its head, “ Producer in Hico, TX.

The RAU Immobilizer has been used by me for the past 5 years with tremendous success. This instrument is built sturdy and can withstand the rough handling that is often encountered when working large animals. The concept of the rectal probe as the only contact point ensures the  safety of the handler as any person can testify that has tried to apply the head contact of other immobilizer types. Thus far mine has only needed replacement of the rechargeable battery. In my opinion the RAU Immobilizer offers the best value for money....... Dr P Louw (BVsc)

“I use the Immobilizer every day for sheath washing and calf branding. The Immobilizer works very easily, fast and effectively with no visible side effects. I am very satisfied with the product and cannot work without it. I consider it an asset for farmer and veterinarians. The Immobilizer is definitely a winner!”… Dr N van den Bosch (BVsc). Warden.

A veterinarian in Bergville, SA said that he had used the unit for performing sheath scrapings in bulls, testing for venereal disease. “No more kicking when it hurts. I did 70 bulls in 2 hours.”

"I watched 100 longhorns having their horns measured while immobilized with the IM2000 - that was enough to convince me to buy one" ....Oklahoma Breeder

"If I'd had one of these Immobilizers at the time..., my arm wouldn't be in plaster now".. Trade show attendee, Rancher, Arkansas

“I found the Animal Immobilizer indispensable in working with these (bovine) animals. They showed very little signs of discomfort or stress and had no side effects. The Animal Immobilizer is an extremely helpful tool in large animal handling and management.” …Veterinarian – Bethlehem.

“This is a wonderful device that would be an ideal piece of equipment for stockmen or veterinarians who need to restrain large animals to treat them.”…. Veterinarian - Wauchula, FL.

“The RAU Animal Immobilizer is one of the most important pieces of equipment in my practice and I can recommend it to any large animal practitioner.”…Dr. H Muller DVM – Bergville S.A.

"I recently had the opportunity to use your Bovine Immobilizer on a 500 pound heifer and a 900 pound bull at Larson Dairy in Okeechobee, Florida. We were able to immobilize either the right or left hind leg as we saw fit or we could have thrown the animal and maintained it in a lateral recumbancy while we examined it or worked on its feet. This is a wonderful device that would be an ideal piece of equipment for stockmen or veterinarians who need to restrain large animals to treat them. I have ordered one of these devices and plan to haul it in my vehicle at all times. If I can be of any help in distributing information about this product please let me know. ..Veterinarian FL

"Since I've had the Immobilizer, I've used it in about 150-200 horses. Most of the procedures are hot brands or freeze branding. The horses react more severely than cattle but I haven't had any complications in any of the horses. The horse must be well boxed in so that it can lean or push against some support. I normally pack about 5 horses in a race. The horse that is immobilized normally pushes or leans against the one in front of it. Care must be taken when inserting the probe into the rectum. I normally find the right setting on the first horse and use the on/off button on the rest, but some individuals may need different settings. I have an assistant who handles the immobilizer button and he knows when to step it up or down..... Dr. H Muller (BVsc).
